Our office is available for consultations to help members of the Destined for a Dream Foundation Group. Initial reports indicate that the bus was owned by philadelphia-based Calvary Coach Bus Company. Although the accident occurred out of state, it is our understanding that many of the victims reside in Pennsylvania as well. As a direct result of this, we strongly believe any action on behalf of the victims should occur in Pennsylvania.
At this time, new details are developing but news sources indicate that the following occurred. The Calvary Coach Bus had 42 people aboard and was returning to Philadelphia area when it struck an overpass on Soldier's Field Road in Boston at 7:30 PM on February 2, 2013. Muliple passengers were unable to exit the bus for more than an hour as rescue crews worked diligently to free them.
The bus suffered significant damage in the crash. The front part of the roof was pushed backwards with other significant damage. Photos posted on the Fire Department's website show rescue workers on the top of the bus helping victims escape. The last victim was freed from the bus around 9 p.m., according to the department. Authorities indicated the bus did not belong on the road, due to restrictions on height and oversize vehicles. State police indicated that the bus driver would likely be cited with violations. There is the possibility of more serious charges at a later date.
The students are members of a Destined for a Dream Foundation group, a Bristol, Pa.-based group, a nonprofit that serves underprivileged youth.
